• NEWLiterature Circle Assignment due TUESDAY, 11/17 **BRING YOUR LITERATURE CIRCLE BOOK TO SCHOOL so you can begin reading your new assignment with your group. Your child should read the assigned reading to you each night, in a timely manner so that he/she can complete his/her job a little bit at a time. If I indicated on the assignment "Read Multiple Times" your child should read the assigned portion several times to increase fluency. If you feel it would be beneficial to read the assignment more than once, please do. You can make a game of it, too. Time for a minute, count words, subtract errors, and your child should read 105 words per minute. Tomorrow, your child will receive another "job" assignment in the SAME BOOK to complete for next Tuesday.

Refer to the "Literature Circle - KEEP ALL YEAR" hand-out distributed at Back to School Night. In this way, you can model what your child needs to do for his/her assignment. BE SURE he/she reports ONLY on the ASSIGNED chapters (or pages). He/she may read ahead, but the "assignment" must reflect only those chapters or pages read. Since it is an ORAL REPORT, too, have him/her practice reading his/her report aloud. When your child reads to you, please record that book on the Reading Contract. Your child will take a 10 point quiz on the book when he/she is finished with it, so have your child read aloud and discuss the content often.
• Math Homework # 68 due tomorrow. Please be sure that your child "shows all work"; how he/she arrived at each answer and correct all work. Sign when your child has corrected all errors. Thank you!
• Spelling Packet "Trickster Tales" due Friday, 11/13
• November Reading Contract due Friday, 11/13 *COMPLETED. (NEW November Contract will come home on Thursday) Record the LITERATURE CIRCLE BOOK and then go on to another chapter book if assignment is read OR read the assignment more than once, which is great for fluency. (Do not record minutes y0ur child spends reading picture books at a lower level.). I'll stamp it and return it to your child on Friday.
